Bovine - Semen Wash Medium
For washing of semen during centrifugation prior to in vitro fertilization
50 ml non-capacitating medium in glass bottle for semen washing
The medium contains a very low concentration of Sodium Bicarbonate and is phosphate buffered and must therefore not be CO2 equilibrated
The medium is ready-to-use and does not need any supplements Medium should be preheated to 38.8°C prior to use with the lid on
Key Ingredients
Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Sulphate, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Dihydrogen Phosphate, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Pyruvate, Phenol Red and Gentamycin
Advantages
Advantages of using a non-gradient and non-capacitating medium:
- The capacitation of the spermatozoa is delayed until they are in the actual IVF medium with the oocytes
- Spermatozoa preserve energy for the subsequent capacitation, acrosome reaction and fertilization
- Potential toxic gradients and excessive centrifugation is avoided
- The Semen Wash Medium also applies very well to sex-sorted semen
Quality Control Tests and Manufacturing
- Sterility tested (Fungal and Bacterial)
- Osmolality tested and pH tested
