Hands On with ICSI!

Hands On with ICSI!

With the new office coming together nicely, more laboratory equipment has been set up for our demo lab. We recently built an ICSI rig to show the team how the rig is used, as well as its different purposes. We collected samples of diatoms from the harbour, which were used as a focus point to build the team’s confidence in using the equipment.

During the hands-on experience, the ICSI process was explained in detail, and the team had a go at using the micromanipulator to image and manipulate samples. It was interesting to see how they behaved around other types of diatoms.
